My family is the hummus eating type. I've tried different brands and the one I liked best, was discontinued. It's all about the texture - it can't be too smooth. This recipe is pretty tasty, but I'm always open for suggestions.
1/2 cup raw sesame seeds
1 T olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
1 clove garlic- pressed
salt to taste
Place all ingredients in a food processor until well blended and the consistency you want. The above is the original recipe, but I added 4 kalamata olives for a little extra flavor. Next time I may try black ones.

So...when will you be making this for me? I'm with you though..not too smooth... yuck! Lumpy is good..kind of like my body. Don't worry about getting crackers for me.. I can supply those..or the celery sticks..that's always a good one too. Hmmm I bet this hummus would go good with wine...don't you? Dang I'm hungry..gotta go..............
Yea for hummus. I like it on warm toast, topped with a good slice of tomato...
I also love it spread over a little phili cream cheese on an Everything bagel; this is just one of the reasons why I must keep attending those weight watcher meetings.
Wa Wa's a huge hummus lover too.
Hey-did you get any good pics from Meeks?
Lubba you.
The Trader Joe's brand, plain, is the BEST.
Wow, 2 things about this post have quite floored me; one, that your family is the "hummus-eating-type", (I shall now refer to Tom as "Thomas") and two, that you make your own. How ambitious you are, dear Tracie.
Grocery Outlet almost always has pretty good brands, I'll keep my eye out for ye.
Aye, Kalamata olives in it, that sounds yummers. ~Michele

Yes Terri, I'll make you some. I'm thinking we must check out the Trader Joe's brand first.
Hi Camille,
Next time I'm down that way, I'll try it out. Thanks for the hot tip.
Hi Michele, I only tried making some because I don't love the store bought stuff. Grant really got into it when he did the no sugar thing a few years back. Collin...well you know him...he'll eat anything. I'll tell Thomas you send your regards.
You're so dignified! I had no idea. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. Happy eating hummus.
Miss Mellie - I didn't mean to forget you, really I didn't. Your idea of toast topped with hummus and tomato was so tempting I had to try it. Tasty! Hmmm, I have cream cheese also. Must try.
I know we took pictures up there - I'll have to look.
Hey there Nikki - Nice having you stop by. I don't know if the word 'dignified' actually goes with any family members living here. Are you sure you're referring to my family?
Thanks for clearing that up Trace; I was worried that maybe I had offended you terribly or something. Check your email. I have a burning question concerning one of your offspring, that needs an answer.
Mel, that is no fair. You can't stir up juice like that and not share with the rest of us. Akward!
Nikki's funny.
I like quacamole, and I really want to try the bacon-loaf.
Hi Nikki - I'll call you.
Anonymous- I like it also, but tell me about the bacon loaf. Is this something I MUST have? Is it Zucchini bread, sprinkled with bacon-bits?
I can not believe you called me. Honored as I was, its truly not my buisness. Though I am happy to be on the inside! You are great Tracie!
Hi Tracie;
When are you coming back to the Briar Patch, miss seeing you in the dairy isle.
Love,
The Dairy Queen
Hi Tracie-
That was my sister Robbyn in case you didn't know. She really loves you and misses seeing you so she wanted to say hi.
The bacon loaf is when you make "meat loaf" with ground bacon. I've never had it, but I know it would be amazing.
Okay anonymous funny person, I gotta know, who the h-e-double-hockey-sticks are you?!?
Hi Nikki- I knew right away that it was your sweet sister dropping in to say hi.
Hi Robbyn- I miss seeing you, too. I think a shopping spree is in order at Briar Patch. Hope I don't miss seeing you gal.
Mellie- I'm with you in the 'wondering' department regarding anonymous. Don't think it's Terri. Might be Ryan. Is he the type to ground up a pound of bacon and form it into a loaf? Has he ever brought that to the Richey's party?
Collin mentioned that it was Ryan's birthday today. Maybe I should make him a loaf and bring it to him.
Hey- maybe it's both Ryan and Terri.
MMMMM Bacon Loaf. who wouldn't want to at least try that if not eat the whole thing. Soem one said it would cook down quite az bit when you make it, so that's something to think about.
