This trumpet vine is commanding your attention. It should, in fact, be a touch embarrassed that these are the only blossoms it's sporting. Thought I'd get proof before the deer come through.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Sun, soil, water, food? Three different plants in three different locations, and this is the reward. Maybe it's like a few other plants around here...I'm trying too hard; some thrive on neglect.

Hey I know! How about laying some peanut butter smeared underwear nearby it and perhaps it will work as a terrific fertilizer......
(Apologies to those of you who may be confused and/or grossed out.)
You should be happy you don't have a lot of blossoms. I was standing under one the other night, and it's flowers were dropping on my head, and they were HEAVY! I almost got a concussion.
~Michele
Tracie, I'm happy to see you blog. I worry when you don't. Keep it up, girl!
I thought trumpets were fool-proof. We have one at our Village Center that's thriving with full sun, little water, and plenty of neglect.
How's your noggin?
Funny Mellie- Maybe I'll give that a whirl. Can't hurt. Thanks for the CD-love it!
Hi Michele- How many fingers am I holding up? If these start dropping, I'd have to be laying under it, on the ground, to be struck. They don't rise very high.
Hi Maria- I'm thinking that they must get too much water. Time to cut back.
Noggin's dandy...just a little on the tired side. Nothing a few naps don't help.
Maybe you should come by our house...cut the thing down twice and still can't get rid of it...
The "OTHER" Sister
Hey OTHER Sister- See, I knew it! Time to ignore the beasts and shut the drip off. I won't even give it a glance. What's interesting is, I have lots of growth, but no flowers.
I see you have a Flickr badge on your sidebar! Good girl! Did I leave church without getting your homeschool goodies? GAH!! Maybe this Sunday? I hate troubling you-You should let me just come to your house and get them!
Hi Sadie- Don't worry about the school stuff...I also forgot. Come by any time- the longer we wait, the more I may have for you. We won't be at church this Sunday - Family Reunion. I'll call ya.
I lost mine in the divorce....
but maybe like the wok, I'll get a chunk of it and get it to grow here for me... better get over there and dig some up...
Hey isn't yours an offspring of mine?
Do I dare touch yours? hmmmm
Doesn't Tom walk around with peanut butter smeared undies on all the time? Lay him down next to it!
Terri - Yes, mine is a baby of yours, but unfortunately does not behave like it. You should get a chunk of it for a pot on your deck.
Affirmative on the Tom thing.
I've had NO success in NV county w/anything trumpet-related; morning glories, moon flowers, etc. So I'm impressed with yours, even if they do look a bit unwell.
Hey Jennifer - We must be cursed. I do actually have ONE morning glory making it's way up my fence - a volunteer, no less. Time to throw in the towel on those babies.
They're gone.....the deer ate them.
